I have always wanted to reach people and make a difference anyway I can. While I could have done that by running as a politician or becoming a teacher, I decided to go a different route: journalism.

Even though I didn't keep a journal when I was younger, I did enjoy reading, writing and watching my local news anchors on television. 

​

I started my journalism career at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte's newspaper The Niner Times writing about how local events impacted the community. This led me to interning at CharlotteFive, a part of The Charlotte Observer, where I focused on lifestyle articles and things to do in Charlotte.

 

During the internship, I had the opportunity to try my hand at political and enterprise stories while learning how to effectively take videos and photos on my phone, create search engine optimized (SEO) tags and articles and effectively report breaking news.

The feedback from readers lets me know my work is making an impact on the community. I would love to continue making an impact in different parts of the country, and even the world, by learning about new communities.
